About Stefanie

Stefanie True was born in Sherbrooke, Canada and studied Early Music at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.  Operatic appearances have included Poppea in Handel's Agrippina at The Grange Festival, Oriana in Handel's Amadigi and Clomiri in Handel's Imeneo at the Göttingen Handel Festival, Belinda in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas at the Tage Alter Musik Regensburg, Cephise in Campra's L'Europe Gallante at the Ambronnay Festival, and various roles in Purcell's King Arthur with Vox Luminis.  She created the role of Cécile de Volanges in Opera2Day's version of Dangerous Liasons.

In concert, she sings regularly with Vox Luminis under the direction of Lionel Meunier, and has appeared with the Academy of Ancient Music and Les Violons du Roy with Richard Egarr, Scottish Chamber Orchestra with Harry Bickett, La Risonanza with Fabio Bonizzoni, The Netherlands Bach Society with Jos Van Veldhoven and Shunske Sato, De Nieuwe Philharmonie Utrecht with Johannes Leertouwer, and the Budapest Festival Orchestra with Sigiswald Kuijken.  She has given solo recitals in festivals such as Musiktage am Mondsee, Utrecht Festival Oude Muziek, Halle Handel Festival, Göttingen Handel Festival, and Festival dei Due Mondi.

Her recordings include Dussek's Messe Solemnelle with the Academy of Ancient Music, Mannaggia Amore with La Cicala, Morin: French Cantatas with Ensemble Lautenwerk, Buxtehude: Abendmusiken, Purcell: King Arthur, Bach: Magnificat, Bach Kantaten, and Charpentier: Orphée aux enfers with Vox Luminis, Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, and Lully’s Ballets & Recits Italiens with La Risonanza under Fabio Bonizzoni.
